Mohd Hanifa was father of multi-award winning chef Shamzuri Hanifa of The Cottage Restaurant & co-owner of Buffalo Boy along with Brian Whelan, former musician from local band Drift & now owner of www.teslago.ie & Sean Purcell (former Roscommon Footballer). Mohd Hanifa was born in Malaysia in 1937 in the city of Taiping.

At the age of 15 he became a butcher. His skill and the quality of his meat became renowned in the northern part of Malaysia and he became one of the main suppliers of beef in this area.

Mohd Hanifa loved butchering but he also loved authentic whisky with a classic cigar.
